for our first AP summer project we had to take pictures of lines. I like taking photos that have blurry and clear parts in them so I took a lot of those. I also like how the wood photos have texture in them too. it was hard to take the photo of the piano string and make it as clear as possible because it is in a low light setting.
1. FLOWERS
flowers are one of my favorite things to take pictures of. my neighborhood has so many different types of flowers around late may and early june. I like taking close ups and not photos of patches of flowers. I especially like how one of these photos has a flower with water drops on it. another cool thing is that in one of the photos the reflection of the sun on the pink flowers makes it look like the photo has a pink filter on it.
2. SHAPES
my favorite shape to take photos of is a circle. I like the picture of the volleyball because you can see the reflection of the water on the bottom of the pool. I also like the car door handle because it has a circle and a rectangle at the same time. also the photo of the spatula has some texture in the scratches on the metal. in the photo with the cup holder I like how the line in the tile is on the rule of thirds.
2. PUPPY
I just got a new puppy at the very beginning of summer. I got my camera no to long after I got my puppy and that is all I wanted to take pictures of. I love dogs and it wasn't hard at all to spend time with him to take pictures. my favorite one of these photos is the one where the ball looks like it is floating. I like how it looks like he is making it float by staring at it.
3. TEXTURE
texture photos aren’t my favorite but I didreally like one of these a lot. The photo with the dogs nose is by far my favorite. I took it of my puppy when he was brand new and fell asleep in the middle of the room. I also like how the texture with the broken glass has reflections of the green of trees.
3. WATER DROPS
For this part of the project I decided to take pictures of the water drops on a succulent. It was still foggy outside so it was hard to try and keep the iso down but I think I did a good job. I like how all the pictures are taken of the same type of plant so they match. This was also fun because it was my first time taking pictures of water drops with my new camera. I also think it’s cool how the purple in the plants stands out.
4. COLOR-HUE
I think that out of all these concentration themes this one looks the best. I love how you can clearly see what the subject is because of the contrast with it and the background. I especially like the ones where there is, for example, blue to contrast orange and together they stand out from the background. I also like how I could incorporate some natural photos such as the plants and flowers in with unnatural items.
4. CAR
cars are definetly one of my favorite things on this planet so when we got this project car, I didn’t hesitate a second before taking photos of it. I like how the logo closeup shows the smallest details the the emblem. I also like the reflection photo where you can see the camera in the rear view mirror. My favorite of these photos though is probably the picture of the shifter because the light was shining on it perfectly so withought editing, it was visible but the background wasn’t.
5. LIGHT
this wasn’t a very fun part of the project cause the subject, light, isn’t very interesting to me. I do like lense flares though and there are a couple of those. When I went to take a picture of the sun, I accidentally looked straight at it through the viewfinder with my zoom lense. It was interesting seeing how you can change settings and be able to see the twisting lightbulb even though it is on.
5. GARDEN
For this project I had a wide variety of foods to choose from because my mom has a garden and there are fruit trees next to my house. It was hard to get the lighting correct on these because a lot were under leaves where sun shone through on only part of it and made it difficult. My favorite of these is probably the squash because of how vibrant the yellow is.
6. MOVEMENT
for this photo I had to go to a bridge that goes over a freeway near my house. I really like how there are some photos focused on the lights and others on the fence. Also the one photo of the water was a lot of fun because I got to hike down a creek to get there and it was a lot of fun. These photos weren’t very hard but still look awesome.
6. AIRPLANE
these photos are all similar but I did my best to make two main differences, over the ocean, and over land. They were all taken flying out of SD. My favorite is probably the one with the clear window and the blurry ground. I am fond of photos that have parts in focus and parts out of focus.
7. REPETITION
Repetition photos are one of my favorite of the concentration themes. My favorite of these is the one with wooden pegs. It is the corner of a bird house that hasn’t been painted yet. The wooden one and the one with the leaves both show texture along with repetition. This wasn’t a very hard project and I am pretty satisfied with the way the photos turned out.
7. BACK TO SCHOOL
I did this part of the project towards the very end of summer. This wasn’t a very hard project because I had all of my school supplies and had a wide variety of things to take pictures of. My favorite one here is by far the one of the lock. I love how this is taken at an angle and has different points of focus. I also like the picture of the backpack because of the low lighting and how it stands out on the rule of thirds.
