revised; For the concentration portion of my portfolio I am taking a surrealistic approach into exploring and learning how, by using mirrors and reflections, ones perspective can be altered in an unusual way. These photos demonstrate how one can see different or two perspectives in a single picture. I feel that the photos i have created in this section represent and offer insight into situations that many people run into in their life.
for this photo what I demonstrated was how sometimes in this world there are people who deserve attention or work hard and go unnoticed. this is represented by the fact that you can see right through where the person should be and right to the chair. A chair is such and insignificant thing but as said, it is seen and the person is overlooked. I like this photo because I am not only a fan of surreal photography, but this is, in my opinion, my best piece I have made.
I created this photo to represent when we have a goal that we want to achieve we may not get there first try, or even on the second try. and when we do get where we want to be, it still won't be easy. you can see this in this photo because you have to look through two frames before seeing the actual subject and still the subjects face is somewhat covered and hard to see but the photo is slightly brighter because that is representing achieving our original goal.
this photo represents how mirrors will show a different perspective from the way everyone else sees you. when you want to make a change in your life you shouldn't do it by yourself because without someone who can see you how you really are you might end up making the situation worse than it was in the first place.
what I represented in this photo is the fact that sometimes people look at things in this world in a sort of broken way. people will look at a homeless person asking for money and think 'oh they will probably just go and buy drugs or alcohol'. but in reality that person is genuinely asking for money for food. this negative view covers the view we should have.
what is represented in this photo is that life is not always easy and will often deal out a rough hand to entirely innocent people. I represented this with darker colors and how both pairs of dice reflecte in the mirrors show snake eyes, which are often iterpereted as losing or something bad.
i believe i clearly portrayed the theme of self image in this photo. This is a full glass looking in a mirror and seeing itself empty just as neoplasm will look at themselves in real life and see themselves as insufficient or not measuring up to society’s standards when in reality they are doing entirely fine but just have a poor self image.
what this photo represents is that sometimes in life we have problems and we try to deal with them and hold ourselves up alone. in this photo there is a girl who is holding a mirror supporting herself when there is noting under her to keep her up. in life when we have a problem that is to big for us to handle, we should tell someone about it and ask them to help us and support us.
This photo represents how people will be struggling but not tell anyone and continue to act just fine as this Jiri is struggling to hold onto the mirror but at the same time she is sitting nicely and you cant see her because she isn’t trying to make a scene or ask for help as she should.
I feel this piece very clearly represents how it is very often ones parents who have the most impact and change their life the most. This is clear because one can see the girl looking in te mirror, but looking back at her, almost as if it were herself, it is her parents.
this piece represents how people will try to hold themselves up all alone and not get help when they should even though they may be in danger or a hard place.
what i aimed to portray in this picture is that sometimes people fail too see what is going on in their life, not that they deny it or ignore it or deal with it themselves, but they fail to see it at all and it is for this reason one needs friends they can confide in and who will step in if something seems wrong.
the message of this photo is that often times people will get so caught up in one aspect of life or their job or school that they miss something big that will end up affecting them in a huge negative way. Just as this exaggerated interpretation shows, the person is writing but is so focused on that, they don’t realize they are drowning.
