What this photo represents is that sometimes we are so focused on what we think is best at the moment that we miss out on the big picture of the situation. This is represented by a father who is packing to go on another Work trip to make more money when he has already missed the opportunity to spend time with his daughter while she is young and teach her what is right and wrong. What he should have been doing is taking more time with her and raising her and teaching her so that she won’t make poor decisions later in her life. No one has ever said when they “I wish I would’ve worked more.” But it is quite often that when someone grows old they see all the time they missed with their loved ones because of it. There is also no amount of success that to any reasonable person would be worth the loss of a child. We need to take a step back every once in a while and look at the big picture of a situation. when we are so focused on one thing a problem is slowly growing and getting out of control and we don’t even notice it. If you’ve ever heard the song “cats and the cradle” I think it captures this very well in words of how if we live only focusing on what we think is important at the moment and not looking at the big picture, we will pass that on to those who look up to us and they will make the same mistake.
